The nexus of love and death ...

The following story was published in Newscore in 2011 ...

"A New Zealand woman suffered a stroke and temporary paralysis when she developed a blood clot in her carotid artery which broke loose and traveled to her heart. The cause of the blood clot was bruising of the blood vessel resulting from ... a hickey! A 'love bite' inducing a stroke is unprecedented in the medical literature (as it was described by one of the treating physicians, Dr. TeddyWu)."

The medical community already knew that blood clots that go to the heart can cause death. How ironic this would would suffer a potentially fatal stroke because of a hickey! Perhaps there needs to be a public warning about the perils of enthusiastic necking! After all, love and death are not supposed to fit into the same headline --- or are they?

They would have a couple thousand years ago if there would have been a Jerusalem Post to write the headline.

The leading story at that time was how the Son of God displayed God's love for the whole world by dying on the cross for our sins.

"There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends," John 15:13.

Jesus Christ offering Himself on the cross for our sins is the nexus of love and death; His love for us so great that He was willing to die for us. He paid sin's penalty for us, and suffered it's consequence of death in our place.

That's how much He loves us!

How much do you love Him?

Scotty
