BOOK REVIEW: A terrific resource on Asperger Syndrome ...
If you know someone with Asperger Syndrome, I have a book you should read.
Or if you just want to learn about Asperger Syndrome to better understand what the person and family experience, here's an authoritative resource for you.
The book that is an outstanding resource regarding Asperger Syndrome is the fully revised, updated, and expanded third edition of "Apserger Syndrome: The Oasis Guide," by Patricia Romanowski Bashe (published by Harmony Books).
This book walks you from the time when you know the struggles your child is experiencing are more than the "average" developmental struggles most children face, to seeking a diagnosis, to what to do once you have a diagnosis, understanding what options and interventions are available, working with professionals, and planning for the future. The sub-title of the book accurately describe the contents as "Advice, Inspiration, Insight, and Hope from Early Intervention to Adulthood."
I'm impressed that the book provides insights based on the latest research, strategies, and experience from parents in a very empathetic but effective way that arms parents with practical support as well as plenty of hope.
This is the kind of help parents of children with Asperger Syndrome desperately need and can greatly benefit from. In 2015, this is an almost "must have" resource on your personal bookshelf.
I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for this review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
